Supreme Court accidentally releases decision allowing some abortions (includes video story)

The Biden administration had a win yesterday when the Supreme Court accidentally released a document online about an Idaho abortion case. A draft decision revealed the court is in favor of allowing abortions for women in life-threatening emergencies.

Bloomberg Law obtained the document from the court’s website before it was removed. It shows a 6-3 vote for the measure, with Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel A. Alito, and Neil Gorsuch dissenting

it is important to note litigation over Idaho’s abortion laws continues in the lower courts. It is unusual for a Supreme Court ruling to be posted on the court’s website before being issued and it is still possible for the document will change when it is officially announced.
