Biden approves disaster declaration after severe storms batter U.S. (includes video story)

President Biden approved an expedited major disaster declaration for Arkansas after two confirmed tornadoes hit the state and over 900,000 people were left without power in states such as Indiana, Arkansas and Tennessee.

This storm, which brought severe winds and over 50 preliminary reports of tornadoes, claimed the lives of 32 people in 11 states, destroying entire towns. Little Rock was one of the cities to be hit by an EF3 tornado that damaged 2,700 structures and injured 50 people.

Over 85 million people residing in the affected states were impacted, including David Pinckney, from Adamsville, Tennessee, who rode out the storm in his home with his wife and recalled the horror he faced.

“It started rattling and shaking the house. I grabbed my wife because she started floating out and it ripped the roof off the house,” he recalled. “We were laying there, boards flying and glass flying.”
