Miami Beach’s spring “breakup” proves effective (includes video story)

Spring break and Miami Beach have become synonymous with one another, as beach-goers and partiers have flocked to the city’s streets each March.

This year, however, things are different.

The City of Miami Beach implemented new restrictions and rules to ward off the potential chaos and crime brought about by spring breakers. These changes include new curfew hours, higher parking fares, and checkpoints throughout the city.

“I can actually get around now without worrying about traffic,” said Miami Beach resident Matthew Rodriguez. “It’s great!”
