A store in West Kendall has books and more (includes video story)

The Kendall Book Exchange is one of the few remaining secondhand bookstores in Miami-Dade County. Its shelves hold more than 30,000 titles, ranging from romance to science. However, this is not the only local attraction for customers.

The bookstore is located inside a store on SW 136th St.  called Tea n’ Sanity. Eunice Rodriguez and her family run the business ,which is also an apothecary and a tea shop. Their goal is to provide alternative natural medicine.

Rodriguez is a self-taught herbalist who custom-blends what she sells based on customers’ problems. She also uses essential oils to make skincare and wellness products.

“We are almost entirely medicinal,” says Rodriguez. “We create products for illnesses for the most part, and I have a really good record of coming up with answers because I’m willing to take a week to work on your problem.”

For the Rodriguez family, this is not only a job but a passion, and having the bookstore in the back of the tea shop creates a good environment for reading. It is filled with essential oil smells.

Tea n’ Sanity is located at 15420 SW 136th St., unit 58. Miami, FL 33196. It opens Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
