Heavy rainfall flooded the streets of South Florida this weekend, leaving several vehicles stranded in the middle of the road.
The system began Friday night and continued into Saturday. After clearing Florida, a tropical storm formed early Sunday morning and was named Alex. This is the first named storm of this year’s Atlantic hurricane season.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workers safely assisted people in exiting their vehicles stuck in waist-deep water. The weather also caused many temporary delays in travel plans as dozens of flights were canceled.
As of Sunday, June 5, the future looks bright for Floridians as the state is no longer on the storm’s radar. It is now making its way close to Bermuda.
