Sideline, Episode 7

Sideline returns this week, and the playoffs are in session.

The University of Miami’s football team had a scrimmage between offense and defense — and things are looking good for the upcoming season.

Hard Rock Stadium is also preparing for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in May, and racing fans are excited.

The Miami Marlins have been on a hot streak beating the Phillies, Diamondbacks, and the Giants, Sideline’s MLB Analyst, Kevin Barrios, tells us what this could mean for the fish later in the season and maybe during the postseason.

The Florida Panthers had a rough start to the first game of their playoff series against the Boston Bruins. Sideline’s NHL analyst Tania Jimenez explains what went wrong with the cats and how they can come back in the next one.

Finally, the Miami Heat is off to a great start to their playoff series against the number one seed Milwaukee Bucks, even though they lost Tyler Herro to a broken hand. Our Heat panel reviews what the Heat did right, what they could have done better, and how to keep this momentum going in the series.

Producer

Moises Pinell is a student at FIU majoring in communications with a track in Digital Media. He enjoys editing videos related to sports and business. He aspires to work for a television network, the Miami Heat, or in the film industry.

Esteban Rodriguez is a sophomore majoring in TV/Broadcast media. He is a producer for Caplin News and FIU's Sports show, Sideline. He hopes to pursue this path of producing for Sports Networks and/or Hollywood in the Film Industry.

 

Kenneth Bueno is a junior majoring in the Digital Broadcasting field. He is a sim racing commentator for Podium eSports and aims to apply his love for sports into the sports broadcasting industry after graduating.

Ethan Toth is a senior, studying Digital Communication and Media at FIU since 2020. As an aspiring writer and producer, he has worked on multiple podcasts, film and video shoots and radio productions. Ethan looks forward to working professionally in whatever creative field he can land in first.

Lauren Wurts is a Latina Junior at FIU majoring in Journalism/ Communications. She hopes to work as a news reporter and work her way up to Producing. She is bilingual and enjoys covering entertainment, sports and activism stories.

Alfredo Banegas is a junior at Florida International University majoring in digital journalism hoping to combine his passion of sports and writing to become a sports writer. Alfredo looks to make positive changes in the way sports are covered in today’s media landscape.

Steven Posada is a senior majoring in Digital Communications and Media. His parents moved to the United States from Colombia and he is looking to chase his dreams and that is to work in sports. He aspires to work in production for sports but is also open to writing or reporting for a team if presented the chance.

Anthony Blanco is a senior majoring in Digital Journalism with hopes of pursuing a career in sports journalism. Anthony is passionate about covering sports and hopes to one day make his passion his profession.

Tania Jimenez is a senior majoring in communication with a concentration in digital broadcasting. She is interested in sports. After graduation, she would like to continue her career journey in the world of sports media.

Zeth Leon is of Cuban descent. He is currently a Junior at FIU majoring in Digital Communications and Media with a concentration in digital broadcasting. After graduation, he plans to incorporate his love for sports into his work by becoming a play-by-play commentator or talk show host for a sports network.
