Biden delivers final State of the Union of his term (includes video story)

President Joe Biden delivered the third and final State of the Union address of his term last night. He discussed a variety of topics including raising taxes for the wealthy, lowering the costs of prescription drugs, the environment, and gun safety legislation.

“If you, the American people, send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again,” said the president.

The approach resonated with some Democrats, including South Florida Representative Frederica Wilson, who expressed her support on social media platform X

Across the aisle, Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio expressed on X that the address “aimed to calm down a very nervous democrat base.”

Biden also announced that he is directing the U.S. military to build a temporary port in Gaza that will allow more food, water and medicine to enter the area. Meanwhile, protestors stood outside the Capitol and called for a ceasefire.

The 2024 election is shaping up to be a rematch of 2020. In his speech, Biden criticized Trump several times without naming him. Trump, through a post on Truth, his social media platform, called the president “angry and mentally disturbed.”
