The Miami Heat headed to Denver Monday night, looking to prevent the Denver Nuggets from closing the NBA Finals.
After a close, suspenseful Game 5, the Heat did not emerge victorious. The Nuggets defeated the Miami 94-89 in a physical and defensive battle.
Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 28 points. Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 21 points.
“I think we did enough to win,” said Butler following the Game 5 loss. “You guard well. We’re still in position to win. You don’t have to score 100 points to win a basketball game. I think we’ll be okay.”
This marks the first NBA championship in Nuggets’ history.
Jokic finished the 2023 NBA Finals averaging 30.2 points, 14 rebounds, 7.2 assists and was named the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP.
