Former Miami Herald executive editor receives national award (includes video story)

Former Miami Herald Executive Editor Monica Richardson was honored by the National Press Foundation (NPF) yesterday at their 41st annual journalism awards dinner. She was presented with the Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award.

Sudeep Reddy, an NPF executive committee member, mentioned that one of the things that made Richardson stand out was her newspaper’s coverage of the Surfside condominium collapse.

“Our duty was to find the answers for the families left to pick up the pieces of that collapsed building — to do our part ensuring that it would never happen again,” said Richardson during her acceptance speech.
