Gun violence: the new American health crisis (includes video story)

U.S. officials are sounding the alarm that the nation is facing a health crisis: gun violence.

On Tuesday, at least nine people were injured during a mass shooting in downtown Denver. It was followed by a triple shooting in Pittsburgh that left one dead and two others hospitalized.

“Gun violence is a health care crisis in this country,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra. “I think it is important that we take actions to protect our communities and our neighborhoods.”

According to The Gun Violence Archive, shootings have scarred the nation approximately 300 times in the last 72 hours.
