Dive into the link between mental health and exercise (includes video story)

May is dedicated to mental health awareness, so we wanted to better understand the link between mental health and exercise.

We spoke to a psychologist, a gym owner, a sports performance coach and athletes about how exercise is linked to bettering our mental health.

Performance and resilience psychologist Glenn Whitney explains the role exercise has in our mental health.

“Exercise can be just as effective if not more than talk therapy,” said Whitney.

Exercise builds a routine that’s structured through discipline and drive, which create skills that you can use in everyday life.

Surrounding yourself with an active environment where you collaborate with like-minded individuals also gives you motivation.
