FIU hosts screening of “Periodical,” a documentary about menstruation (includes video story)

Florida International University hosted an exclusive screening for “Periodical,” a documentary about menstrual cycles, with NBCU Academy and MSNBC at the Wolfe Theater on the Biscayne Bay Campus.

The documentary explores science, beauty, politics and the stigma of menstrual cycles from the first period to the last.

“The first time I saw the sizzle for this project, I was like, ‘I have to make this film,’” said Amanda Spain, the MSNBC Films vice president of longform acquisitions. “It just felt really important and really powerful.”

“Periodical” is playing in theaters across the U.S. and will air on MSNBC on Nov. 19. The film will begin streaming on Peacock starting Nov. 20
