“The Summer I Turned Pretty” hosts premiere in South Beach (includes video story)

A highly anticipated Amazon Prime Video show, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is back with its second season, after being a hit series last summer.

The show was adapted from a book series created by Jenny Han, which became a bestseller between 2009 to 2011. Since then, the show has was given a modern-day storyline to connect with the newer generation.

“I think fans are so fascinated with this modern take on the book because they are making it relatable and I feel like everything that these kids are going through, someone can relate in some kind of way,” said Katie Malahias, a fan of the book and show series.

On Wednesday night, Regal Movie Theater at South Beach gave Prime members in South Florida an exclusive invite to season two’s first episode.

Fans gathered to welcome the season and shared their passion for the show, while enjoying complimentary popcorn and beverages. The premiere kicked off with a trivia game based on the show. In the end, fans got to leave with season two posters and expressed their excitement for the season.

“I’m so excited to see the decision Belly makes especially after the aftermath,” said Shreyana Sangeli, a fan of the series. “We kind of got an idea of what is going to happen to Susannah and how everyone deals with that, it is a really sad ending.”

The first three episodes in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” season two are currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
