Trump to go on trial April 15 (includes video story)

Former President Donald Trump will have to return to a courtroom for trial on April 15, when a jury will consider whether payments to former adult film star Stormy Daniels were legal.

The controversy began in 2018 when the Wall Street Journal posted an article that claimed Trump paid upwards of $100,000 to Daniels as “hush money” during his campaign. He denies the existence of the affair and the payments.

Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen claims he hid Trump’s “dirty laundry” for years, including the payments to Daniels. Cohen went to prison in 2018 for finance violations regarding the hush money.“I am ashamed that I chose to take part in concealing Mr. Trump’s illicit acts rather than listening to my own conscience,

Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The trial aligns closely with the incoming 2024 Presidential Election, where Trump seems to be the Republican Nominee.
