Throughout the United States, people are suffering from heat waves due to global warming.
As a result, experts are advising people to choose their wardrobe this summer based on the breathability of the clothing.
“Choosing something that is cotton or linen that’s going to be breathable, and also lighter in color, is going to help reflect some of that heat so that our skin is able to breathe and stay cooler as well,” said Dr. Kara Wada of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Wada also advises against wearing synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon and spandex during summer months. These fabrics may trap heat and sweat in the body, leading to skin inflammation and irritation.
The use of breathable clothing, as well as sunscreen and moisturizer, may be the ticket to beating skin irritation during these summer heat waves.
