Dancing Grannies are back in a Wisconsin town (includes video story)

The Dancing Grannies twirled and waved their pom-poms during a Fourth of July parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin for the first time in two years.

At a Christmas parade in 2021, six people passed away, including four of their members, when a truck drove into the crowd. It caused the dancing team to take a long break.

“Today is the first day that I’ve actually been back to the parade route to see where the car went through our grannies and you know, where a couple of people passed, and I haven’t been back here,” said Kathi Schmeling, a dancing granny. “So it was very emotional, but today is a day of building brand new memories.”

The red, white and blue troupe are making new friendships as well. The 610 Stompers came all the way from New Orleans to walk alongside them.
