FIU’s baseball team took on the FAU Owls over the weekend. The three-game series began on Friday and finished on Sunday with FAU getting the better of the Panthers.
The teams split the first two games as they each defended their home fields. The final game was played at Boca Raton, where the Owls dominated the Panthers in a 24-2 win.
Despite the Panther’s performance this weekend, FIU fan Alan Macaulay still believes in the future of the team. “It’s really just one of those sports that one year can change the momentum, so I’m just hoping that we can get that going because we have the potential here to really be a baseball powerhouse.”
FIU is now 9 and 7 in Conference USA. The Panthers have a short break before starting their string of home games. They play at FIU for their next four games starting with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Wednesday.
