Kamala Harris visits FIU on her “Fight for Our Freedoms” tour (includes video story)

As part of her ‘Fight for Our Freedoms’ college tour, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Florida International University, the sixth stop on her tour. Actor Anthony Ramos and rapper Fat Joe moderated the panel.

FIU is one of the largest Hispanic-serving institutions in the country.

The event was open to the FIU community and took place at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. It was organized and managed by the White House.

The Vice President addressed a range of important topics during her discussion, including issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, gun safety, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights and various other concerns that are significant to young people.

“I’m counting on you,” said Harris to the students in the crowd, encouraging them to take action and vote.

Some students had the opportunity to ask the Vice President a question.

Virginia Tijerino is a Latina Junior majoring in Communications with a specific focus on journalism, accompanied by a minor in education. As a passionate bilingual student, she finds joy in writing and reporting stories on social events and about her community. She holds a strong passion for writing and aspires to pursue a career as a reporter.

Christina Harris is a junior majoring in digital journalism with a minor in English. After her studies, she wishes to pursue a career in the entertainment field dealing with television.
