Start your engines: NASCAR returns to Miami in October (includes video story)

Reporter Daniela Thoelke was allowed into the pits in the leadup to the NASCAR Cup Series Race, which returns to Homestead Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 22.

In an event to lead up to the races, people were allowed to drive on the track last week.

Last year was the first season that the NASCAR Championship Weekend was held in Homestead.

This is the 24th cup series in Homestead. The first was held in 1999 and won by Tony Stewart, who drove a Pontiac.

Daniela Zulueta is a FIU Alumni at Florida International University who graduated with her bachelor's in digital broadcasting and media and holds an associate degree in journalism from Miami Dade College.
