Sideline, Season 3, Episode 10

Sideline returns for its tenth show of 2024. This week, the Miami Sharks, the city’s new rugby team, won their first game in franchise history at home. Florida International University’s swimming and diving program was represented on the national stage. Both the Heat and Panthers were able to put rough starts to their weekends behind with wins yesterday. But Inter Miami only had one game, and it was a loss.

The Sharks made history Saturday by securing a win against Anthem RC. Sideline was in the scrum for the 50-21 outing.

FIU swimmer Christie Chue and diver Paige Burrell shined under the bright lights of the NCAA championship this week. Chue discussed her three consecutive years making the national tournament, and what is ahead.

The Heat took out its frustration from being blown out by the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-84 yesterday. Haywood Highsmith was the leading scorer off the bench with 18 points.

The Panthers lost in a potential preview of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday to the New York Rangers in a game that was decided by a shootout. Like the Heat, they brushed off the disappointing finish by making light work of the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday in a 4-1 outing. Sam Reinhart had a bounce-back game, scoring two goals and finishing with three points.

Playing without Lionel Messi, Inter Miami had many problems on the road Saturday. Their conference foes, the New York Red Bulls, shut them out 4-0 behind three goals from Lewis Morgan.
