Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theater presents “Legally Blonde,” one of the most successful musicals of all time. Becca Andrews who is on her sixth run of the production is starring as Elle Woods and is set to have a spectacular performance on stage that would conquer the hearts of the audience. The idea for the show came from the artistic director David Arisco as an ode to women empowerment and femininity. This Spring the Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center will be presenting the musical adaptation of Pedro Almodobar’s movie “Women on the Verge of Breakdown”.The Department of Theater at FIU is celebrating their 50th anniversary with the opening of a new program “BFA Musical Theater” by bringing to stage “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”. Director of audience development, Ivan R. Lopez said “This production is taking the department to another level” by compromising to present 1 musical based show out of the 4 seasonal projects allowing students who are enrolled into this new program to experience being part of a musical based performance”.Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” is a flashy and entertaining show that finds the right moment to make you reflect about the topics being touch in story. Olivia de Guzman, Head of the new Musical Theater program and Director of the show is really happy with the production, since the original story was written from the perspective of a man she feels that female participation in this would push the show forward “It’s wonderful that there are several female points of view in the production. This shows it’s a unique opportunity to support local actors in the earliest stage of their careers and to see for yourself the 1988 Spanish comedy by Pedro Almodobar in a musical format and with student discounts being offered at the box office the timing couldn’t be more right.

Written by Cristina Clemente and Marc Angelet and adapted for the Miami audience by the renowned actor and director Alexis Valdes this spring “Laponia” presented by Teatro Trail in Calle 8 to audiences of 18 years or older. ‘Laponia” tells the story of a Cuban family that travels with their kids to Finland during Christmas unraveling a collision of cultures that will bring funny and relatable moments but will also offer a reflection about those who travel abroad and have to deal with other ways of life. Marisol Correa Director of Teatro trail shared her thoughts about the significance of the show which commemorates the 13th anniversary of the theater and the strong relationship between the company and Director Alexis Valdes “ It’s very gratifying to see how the relation that we have with Alexis Valdes keeps working out and is prove that the Miami audience does support theater”. There is no better time to ride along on this journey from Miami to Finland and see how two different cultures collapse to bring this fantastic show to life at Teatro Trail.
